The Barca chief was in town to check on the progress of Portugal duo Gelson Martins and Andre Silva.
The talented young pair are thought to fit all the criteria that the Catalans are looking for in their next batch of new recruits, though it remains to be seen if they have done enough to earn themselves a move.
Martins is renowned for being a pacy, tricky winger whose speed, directness and technical ability make him a nightmare for opposition defenders.
Although yet to score for his country, the 22-year-old has managed five in 12 games so far this season for Sporting Lisbon in his homeland, leading to interest from a number of Europe's top clubs.
The problem where Barca are concerned is that any move for Silva would be complicated. The 21-year-old only joined AC Milan this summer from Porto for a fee in the region of €40m, meaning that he is unlikely to move on any time soon.
The youngster has found the net six times in nine games in all competitions so far this season, though he has yet to score in Serie A.
That fine run of form continued as Fernandez watched on, with Silva scoring late on to seal victory for Portugal and take his international record to an impressive ten goals in sixteen games.
Could Barca be set to lure two of Portugal's best and brightest to the Camp Nou?
