Barcelona's back-up plan if Dembele and Coutinho fall through

Di Maria has been linked with Barcelona as much as Neymar was to PSG before finally completing his move, and the Argentine could make the switch to the Camp Nou. Barcelona are fighting to secure Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho, but their arrivals could be too complicated.

For that reason, Barca have set their sights on the former Real Madrid winger, as reported by 'L'Equipe'. Their aim is to make at least one marquee signing before the transfer window closes.

On the other hand, the Parisian side would agree to pocket the fee for Di Maria, in order to be in compliance with financial fair play regulations, after Neymar's 222 million euro signing.

Barcelona's board of directives want one big star to strengthen the squad. The name of that star could change depending on the availability of Dembele or Coutinho. If the Catalans close any of their primary targets, Di Maria would no longer be an option. If their efforts prove unsuccessful, the PSG man would enter the scene.
