The Germans now need a miracle to stand any chance of making it to the knockout stages after a frustrating display against the Cypriot minnows.
After losing their first two games of the campain, Dortmund needed Real Madrid and Tottenham to play out a draw and for them to beat APOEL to give themselves any chance of closing in on the pack. Whilst Real and Spurs did their bit, Dortmund were unable to take care of their own business as they struggled to break down their stubborn opponents.
APOEL have been one of the surprise performers this season in the Champions League and after putting in an impressive display at the Bernabeu, albeit in vain, they followed it up with a famous point on Tuesday.
The home side competed well throughout and took the lead midway through the second half through Mickael Pote. That goal was quickly cancelled out by Sokratis Papastathopoulos but Dortmund couldn't find that all-important second goal to bring them back into contention in Group H.
To have any chance of continuing their Champions League journey Dortmund must now win all three of their remaining games, including a trip to the Bernabeu, whilst hoping that Real and Spurs play out another draw at Wembley. Sounds easy, right?
