Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville said that Liverpool's defence "will always kill" any chance they have of success, after four defensive mistakes contributed to their comprehensive defeat at the hands of Tottenham at Wembley.
Centre back Dejan Lovren was at fault twice as Spurs raced into a 2-0 lead inside 12 minutes and a weak header from his partner Joel Matip allowed Dele Alli to score a third just before half-time.
The fourth goal came after goalkeeper Simon Mignolet missed his punch before Kane stroked home, and Neville was understandably critical of Liverpool's defensive display.
Speaking on 'Sky Sports' after the game, Neville said: "This team can be scintillating, but the centre backs and goalkeeper will always kill them, they are not good enough, they will always let you down"
Meanwhile, Jamie Redknapp was equally scathing, saying the Reds attacking line constantly have to rescue their side due to their defensive frailties.
Redknapp said: "Going forward Liverpool are as good as any (team), but if I played in this team it would drive me mad with the individual mistakes this back four makes.
"These are individual mistakes, time and time again, and that's why the manager wanted to buy a centre back in the summer.
"They are just not good enough, individually or collectively, they are going to keep making these mistakes week-in, week-out. It must drive the likes of (Philippe) Coutinho crazy because know they have to score three or four goals to win a game."
