According to Spanish publication 'AS', the 23-year-old, who made his Spain debut in 5-0 win over Costa Rica during the last international break , is closing in on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for the start of next season. Los Blancos are reportedly already preparing for the arrival of the Bilbao goalkeeper, despite the player's representatives denying any notion of a deal in place for the transfer.
Although the negotiations with Bilbao have hit a sticking point for Real Madrid, they will reportedly wait until Kepa is out of contract on June 30, 2018 so they will be free to negotiate with the player free from his contract.
In the offices at Real Madrid they are fully confident that Kepa will be between the sticks at the Santiago Bernabeu next season, and they will complete the transfer in the summer window, instead of January.
However, the Basque club are trying to avoid the departure of their young keeper, and although they are yet to offer him a new deal, that may change soon with Florentino Perez lurking, awaiting the end of the player's current deal.
Now, the only thing missing is an agreement between Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid to help the Spain international make the move. but Bilbao have no intention of letting him go easily and they will do everything in their power to keep him.
