"I have watched him play and I think he is at a very good level, without a doubt he could play well in any team in the world, he would fit," former Barcelona captain Xavi Hernandez claimed in an interview for 'SID'.
Xavi believes the Catalan club should scout young talent in Germany, which is currently overflowing with promising youngsters: "He is a young player. Germany always have great players, and Goretzka is one of them."
According to German publication 'Bild', Barcelona directors have already met the playmaker, currently plying his trade at Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga, regarding a potential move to the Camp Nou.
His contract comes to an end next year and he is likely to be on his way out of Germany, with many clubs on the lookout to swoop in as soon as he becomes a free agent.
