Pep Guardiola's side are in Catalonia for an intensive training camp and will face Girona in an exhibition match on Tuesday.
The unusually timed trip is also being used to finalise negotiations that will see Girona become the latest foreign club to join the City Football Group (CFG).
It is not yet known the size of City's stake in Girona, but another major shareholder in the club is Media Base Sports, owned by Guardiola's brother Pere.
However, the deal is being monitored as it could contravene UEFA rules that prevent clubs with the same owners playing in European competition.
UEFA were following developments in the deal closely last night, but Girona look set to join New York City FC, Melbourne City, Yokohama F Marinos and Club Atletico Torque in CFG's list of clubs.
A number of City players have already been sent on loan to Girona, including Douglas Luiz, Aleix Garcia, Pablo Maffeo and Marlos Moreno.
