Despite not starting the year on the right foot, Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to catch up his Ballon d'Or rivals.
The striker's statistics have returned to the heights that we've come to expect from him - Ronaldo has been prolific, scoring 10 goals and grabbing two assists in just eight games. He's still, however, still two places off top spot.
According to data from 'ProFootballDB', the only two men who have bettered the Madrid maestro are Manchester City's Sergio Aguero, with 14 goals, and PSG's Neymar, with 12.
It is worth noting that the former Barcelona winger has played a game more than Ronaldo. Furthermore, the current top scorer, Aguero, has featured in 12 matches for City this calendar year - four more than the Portuguese.
Level with Ronaldo on 10 goals is Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan has played 13 matches in 2018, registering 1,111 minutes and banking four assists.
Finally comes Lionel Messi who has found the net nine times in 13 games this year. A tally that, at first glance, may seem underwhelming, but along with the six assists he has offered to his Barca teammates, the Argentine has been involved in more goals than his rival in third.
